Launched globally just two weeks ago, it appears Lenovo is aggressively rolling out availability of its new Phab Plus phablet. The company is set to release the device to the Malaysian market next week, and has already begun pre-orders for this mega-phablet.
The Lenovo Phab Plus stretches the very definition of a phablet, offering a vast 6.8-inch IPS display mated to a Full HD resolution. Underneath, the device dubbed to be “PHABtastic” runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 1.5GHz octa-core chipset with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of expendable storage. There’s also the standard camera offering of a 13MP rear and 5MP front facing shooters. Lenovo is particularly excited about the device’s slim metal unibody, which weighs 229g and measures 7.6mm thin. Given the phone’s size, the battery is somewhat surprisingly small at 3,500mAh.
What’s fab (sorry) about the Phab Plus is in the connectivity options it offers. The Phab Plus comes with two SIM slots: one nano-SIM and one micro-SIM. The device itself also supports both TDD-LTE (used in China) and FDD-LTE bands, meaning you’ll be able to roam in 4G with this device if you’re ever visiting China. What’s more, this device also supports Dolby Atmos technology, first seen in the Lenovo A7000 smartphone. Lenovo is also pre-installing three applications inside the device: the company’s SYNCit and SHAREit apps, as well as McAfee security.
The other phablet announced alongside the Phab Plus, simply named Phab, is the lower-end version of the two, but with a larger 6.98-inch display. From what we understand, this device will not be available in Malaysia yet, but instead will be coming towards the end of the year.
The Lenovo Phab Plus is available in two colours (Gunmetal Grey and Honey Gold) and is priced at RM1,199. Starting today, you can place a pre-order for the device, where the first 100 pre-orders will receive freebies worth up to RM600 in value, which includes Superdry vouchers, e-magazine subscriptions and more.
