The Meizu MX5.
Meizu has been releasing one affordable smartphone after another, all of which are equipped with MediaTek processors. This particular device that has appeared on AnTuTu, however, is a completely different beast. According to the leaked information, the Meizu NIUX is sporting an Exynos 7420 processor, the very same chipset found in Samsung’s latest flagships.
If this is legitimate, the NIUX would be the first non-Samsung device to be powered by the very capable processor. After all, the Samsung Galaxy S6 duo were ranked as the most powerful smartphones for the first half of 2015 by AnTuTu. This isn’t the first time Meizu used an Exynos processor for its device either; the Meizu MX4 Pro is equipped with an Exynos 5430.
As for the NIUX’s other specifications, it’s said to have a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution AMOLED display, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 21MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras, and Flyme OS 5.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Looking at these specifications, the NIUX is one capable device.
It is also believed that the NIUX will be Meizu’s most premium device yet. It will apparently have a 2.5D front panel, an almost bezel-less design, and a metal back. Words are, Meizu will unveil a new device by the end of September 2015. We’ll find out by then if it will be the NIUX.
