Microsoft has removed several Lumia camera apps from the Windows Store, and will soon be dropping online support for the apps as well. This comes as the company is taking the first steps in streamlining the number of camera apps available to Windows Phone users, and also increasing the focus on the upcoming unified Windows 10 Mobile camera app.
Lumia Storyteller, Lumia Beamer, Photobeamer, Lumia Panorama, Video Uploader, and Lumia Refocus have already been removed from the Windows Store since last Friday. Those who are already using these apps will still be able to use them, but will not receive updates or support. In the case of Lumia Storyteller, Lumia Beamer, Photobeamer, and Lumia Refocus, there will no longer be any connection to online services.
The goal is to fold these functions into the primary camera app in Windows 10. Removing these redundant apps from the Store appears to be one of the first steps in getting users ready for the new mobile operating system. Rumour has it that the operating system was supposed to be released in October alongside the Threshold 2 update for Windows 10, although that seems to have been delayed to a November release. There is no telling if this has also affected the release of Windows 10 Mobile.
