Google’s next Nexus devices have received a launch date: 29th September 2015. As we approach closer to it, more leaks of the devices have started surfacing. For one, a listing has revealed that the Huawei Nexus will sport a 5.5-inch display. As for the 2015 Nexus 5 (or Nexus 5X, as some rumours are suggesting), an allegedly final render of the device has been spotted.
The listing on Huawei’s very first Nexus device appeared on Zauba, which tracks imports and exports of products in India. The listing included several specifications of the device, namely a 5.5-inch display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and of course, LTE connectivity. However, the most eye-catching detail is the US$645 price tag, which comes up to about RM2,775.
The 2015 Nexus 5, on the other hand, has been spotted in a render that is said to be its final one. It was sent to the folks over at AndroidPIT from what the site claims to be “a trusted source.” The render, however, does look similar to a previously leaked physical unit of the upcoming Nexus device. As for hardware, it’s rumoured to be packing a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, a 2,700mAh battery, and USB Type-C. It’s said to retail for less than US$400 (about RM1,720).
Google’s upcoming lineup of Nexus devices are definitely different from years past. It was always one smartphone and one tablet; never two smartphones at a time. For Android purists out there, it’s surely an exciting time to see Android 6.0 Marshmallow debut on these devices.
