Razer has revived the Diamondback, its classic gaming mouse from 2004. This time the venerable pointing device has been upgraded with a substantially upgraded optical gaming sensor, a more comfortable grip, and even the fancy new Chroma technology.
The Diamondback was one of the earliest gaming devices ever produced by Razer, and it has periodically returned to the design with better internals. The first Diamondback had a sensor with 1,600 dpi; which was excellent for 2004, but is rather sad for 2015. With that in mind, this new Diamondback 2015 has a sensor with ten times the sensitivity at 16,000 dpi.
Razer is also packaging the Diamondback with a special collector’s edition of the mouse. This will give buyers an additional booklet documenting the history of the Diamondback, and premium quality packaging. The Diamondback Collector’s Edition will also only be available through the Razer online store.
The Razer Diamondback lacks a lot of the extra bells and whistles that have become common with gaming peripherals. It features the bare basics with four programmable buttons, a rubberised grip, and ambidextrous design. The newest feature happens to be the Chroma technology.
Razer is selling the Diamondback on the Razerzone online store for RM339, or RM459 for the Collector’s Edition.
