Astro on the Go is now offering subscribers the option to download their programmes and watch them at a later date. There does not appear to be any limits on the number of shows that can be downloaded, but it is currently limited to Android devices right now.
The press release talks about allowing subscribers to download the shows ahead of trips to places where internet speeds are less than idea. Aside from the apparent lack of limits on the number of downloads, there does not appear to be any limitations on the amount of time subscribers have to watch their downloaded shows.
At the moment, the number of shows available for the offline play option is limited to local productions; although that could possibly change in the future. At least we’re hoping that it is expanded to more options in the future, which would make it easier to binge watch entire seasons while traveling around.
Using the offline play feature requires the user to simply tap on the Download Available button next to the title of the show. The download will progress in the background, and other shows can be streamed in the mean time. Accessing downloaded content can be done in the Watchlist section of the app.
There is no word on when this feature will be made available for iOS subscribers, but it is a step in the right direction for Astro. If only there was more international fare for download.
