Truth to be told, the show floors of IFA 2015 will only opens later this week but plenty of manufacturers have kick start their IFA campaign right now. One of them is the Taiwanese giant Acer which has brought along plenty of products including a very unique small form factor PC called Revo Build.
While it has small footprint just like the previously released Revo One, the new Revo Build has slightly beefy physique though. What made Revo Build vastly different from Revo One is that it actually compromises of modular sections that Acer dubbed as “Blocks”.
Each of these Blocks are designed to provide different functionalities and some can actually work independently outside of Revo Build’s base unit. Additionally, they can be stacked on top of each other in order to link them into a single PC via pogo pins with magnetic alignment.
For starters, a hot-swappable portable hard drive with capacity of 500GB and 1TB will be the first Blocks to be released at Revo Build’s launch later this year. Other Blocks with capabilities such as wireless power bank, microphone, and speakers will be made available later on. The pricing for these Blocks were not mentioned though.
As for the base unit of Revo Build itself, it will come with either Intel Celeron or Pentium processor which sounds rather restrictive given the modular nature of Revo Build. That being said though, users will still be able to upgrade the system memory in the base unit with up to 8GB of DDR4 RAM.
To be available in EMEA markets in October and followed by China in December, it will be priced at EUR 199 (RM 945) and CNY 1,999 (RM 1,328).
