Acer has revealed an expanded lineup of new gaming products under the Predator brand. These start with a couple of new notebooks, monitor, and tower PC; and then progress into the slightly more insane realm of Predator branded projector.
The new Predator 15 and 17 gaming notebooks are powered by sixth generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ processors, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M graphics, up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to a 512GB PCIe SSD. The Predator 15 sports a choice between a Full HD display, or a far more visually impressive 4K Ultra HD panel. On the other hand, the larger Predator 17 will only have a Full HD panel. That being said, both notebooks will have support for up to three displays.
Acer has also thrown in a feature called Killer DoubleShot Pro, which allows ethernet and WiFi connections to be used at the same time to reduce latency in online games. Interestingly, both the Predator gaming notebooks feature a modular third cooling fan that can be hot swapped with the optical drive.
Gamers who are not in the market for mobility can instead look to the Predator G3 and G6 desktops. Featuring the new range of sixth generation Intel processors, these desktops can be configured with up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics cards. The Predator G6 also ships with a “One-Punch Overclocking” option, which presumably allows the processor to be overclocked with a single button.
Designed to be paired with the Predator desktops is the introduction of the Predator Z35 monitor. It is a 35-inch UltraWide Full HD display with an aspect ratio of 21:9. As a gaming monitor it packs an impressive refresh rate of 144Hz, which can be overclocked to 200Hz. The Z35 monitor also features NVIDIA G-SYNC technology to make the most of the NVIDIA GeForce graphics.
Alongside the Predator Z35 is the Predator XB1 gaming monitor, which comes in two sizes. The 27-inch display with either a 4K UHD (3840 x 1440) panel or a WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS panel. The larger 28-inch XB1 will only ship with a 4K UHD panel. Interestingly, there is also a Predator branded projector; but there appears to be little information about it beyond the fact that it is a ultra-short throw laser projector.
The Acer Predator 15 and Predator 17 notebooks will be available in North America in November with prices starting at US$1,499.99 (about RM6318) for the Predator 15 and $1,599.99 (about RM6739) for the Predator 17. The Predator Z35 will be making its North America debut in December with prices starting at US$1199.99 (about RM5054), while the Predator XB1 Series will be available in November with prices starting at US$799.99 (about RM3369). There is no word on the availability about the desktops or projectors.
