Good news for those who are using an iPhone and wish to get an Android Wear smartwatch. Google recently announced that Android Wear for iOS is now rolling out on to the Apple App Store.
The app is available for iPhones running iOS 8.2 and above (that’s the iPhone 5/5s/5c/6 or 6 Plus). The app will allow iPhone users to:
- Get info at a glance: Receive notifications right from the iPhone onto the Android Wear smartwatch like phone calls, messages and app notifications.
- Follow your fitness: Track your fitness using an Android Wear – set fitness goals, and get daily and weekly views of your progress.
- Save time with smart help: If you’re lazy or too busy to pull out your phone to ask Siri a question, just say “OK Google” to an Android Wear smartwatch, and ask it questions like “is it going to rain tomorrow”, or create to-dos with “remind me to pack an umbrella”.
Sadly though, if you’re using an older Android Wear device, this may not work for you. Google says that Android Wear for iOS works with the LG Watch Urbane, all future Android Wear watches, including those from Huawei, Asus and Motorola. While Google did not mention support for older Android Wear devices, there are reports that it works with the Moto 360 too, just make sure that it is running on the latest Android Wear 1.3 software.
