If you’ve been wanting to get the 4GB RAM variant of the Asus ZenFone 2, you might be looking to pay RM100 extra now. A quick check on Asus Malaysia’s online store showed that the price increase has already taken effect. The new prices for the top-of-the-line 32GB and 64GB models of the ZenFone 2 are now RM1,199 and RM1,399 respectively.
That being said, certain retailers still seem to be selling the ZenFone 2 at its old prices. DirectD, for example, is still listing the 32GB and 64GB flagship models at RM1,099 and RM1,299 respectively. However, on its Facebook page, DirectD mentioned that the new prices will be implemented from tomorrow onwards.
While a price increase is never a good thing for consumers, at least the other variants of the ZenFone 2 are not affected. Even with the price increase, the highest-end ZenFone 2 still offers plenty value for money. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display, an Intel Atom Z3580 2.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM, a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 128GB, 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing PixelMaster cameras, and a non-removable 3,000mAh battery.
Seeing how our currency is getting weaker day by day, we can only hope other manufacturers will not increase the prices of their products as well. As some retailers have yet to implement the new prices for the 4GB RAM variant of the Asus ZenFone 2, better act fast if you’re interested to get one.
