Samsung is rumoured to be working on an 18.4-inch tablet. What niche this could possibly fill is still unknown, and the company has not said anything about the possibility of a giant tablet. The prospect of a giant tablet is entirely possible, although the supposed specifications are not very convincing.
A report from SamMobile indicates that the 18.4-inch TFT LCD Full HD display will be accompanied by an octa-core 64-bit 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a microSD card slot (supporting up to 128GB cards), and a 5,700 mAh battery. The compulsary cameras will feature 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera. Interestingly, the report also includes the dimensions of the supposed Android 5.1 tablet; which has been codenamed ‘Tahoe’.
The rumour certainly has quite a few details about the tablet, but the number of specifications available is not very convincing. It is not often that a tablet rumour starts out with the complete specifications.
That being said, giant sized Android devices are not unheard of. Most manufacturers have at least experimented with the form factor at some point, with HP and Acer building entire All-in-One devices based on the mobile OS. Whether this has proved a popular option with consumers is unknown.
