Originally launched at Computex 2015 earlier this year, Cooler Master MasterCase 5 and MasterCase Pro 5 have made their way into Malaysia earlier this week. The main attraction of these two mid-sized PC cases is their FreeForm Modular System which provide flexibilities for users to tweak the exterior and interior sections of both cases as Cooler Master intended MasterCase to be a platform for DIY builders out there that love to experiment with their PC case.
One of the elements within the FreeForm Modular System in these MasterCase cases is the “Clip-and-Click” panel which allow users to vertically position and swap storage drive cages easily through the usage of sliding locks. It also can be adapted to mount fan brackets, GPU support brackets and water cooling reservoirs.
At the same time, both of these cases also features “Slip-and-Click” 2.5-inch solid state drive pockets in four different mounting positions. Additionally, Cooler Master has also implemented dual chamber design that isolate power supply unit and the rest of the system.
As for their exteriors, this is where the differences between MasterCase 5 and MasterCase Pro 5 are actually visible. Specifically, the MasterCase 5 features a set of two handles and a standard side door while the MasterCase Pro 5 comes with a mesh cover and cooling bracket on its top as well as a windowed side panel.
Of course, MasterCase 5 owners don’t really need to worry about these differences though since they can actually purchase additional components through Cooler Master’s APAC online store and fit it into their case. After all, the MasterCase Pro 5 is just a slightly beefed up version of MasterCase 5 and share the same modular base structure.
Here is how both cases fare against each other, in general:
The new MasterCase 5 and MasterCase Pro 5 PC cases are now readily available in Jayacom Infomation, Viewnet Computer System, C-Zone, All IT Hypermarket, Thunder Match Technology, Ideal Tech PC, PC Image, and E-Tech Computer Accessories with a price tag of RM 479 and RM 599 respectively. Of course, these prices are inclusive of the standard 6% GST.
