When news about it was made public, the idea has received plenty of reactions from all parts of the spectrum. Nevertheless, it seems like “Low Yat 2” is going to be a reality soon and it also seems that its development has been fast tracked as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob expects that the establishment to be operational in 3 months’ time.
Located at MARA Building in Kuala Lumpur, the proposed “Low Yat 2” is a retail and wholesale space for consumer electronics and telecommunication products with traders consists of Malay and Bumiputera entrepreneurs. The minister also stated that the early phase of the project will result in 30 retail space for these traders.
In terms of its operation, it will be under MARA’s responsibility which is not surprising given its location and nature. Ismail Sabri has also stated that the detailed development plan for “Low Yat 2” will be presented in a post-Cabinet meeting next Monday.
In case you are wondering, “Low Yat 2” will not be the establishment’s actual name. In fact, MARA is planning to have a contest in order to provide the opportunity to everyone to name the upcoming retail and wholesale space according to the minister in a remark earlier this week. Well, this is going to be interesting…
