When we reviewed the Lenovo U41 (one of the best Ultrabooks on a budget), Lenovo Malaysia did not mention whether its smaller variant, the U31, will be available in Malaysia. Well, seeing how we have spotted it on SIRIM, there’s a very good chance it will be sold alongside its bigger variant soon.
When it comes to hardware, the Lenovo U31 isn’t that much different from the U41. Assuming it comes with the same configuration as the U41 models available in Malaysia, the highest-end variant would have an Intel Core i7-5500U processor with 4GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and an NVIDIA GeForce 920M graphics card.
What’s different, however, is the display size. As the U31’s name suggests (somewhat), it has a 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution TN display rather than a 14-inch panel of the U41. Because of the smaller display size, it is also slightly lighter and smaller than its bigger variant. The U31 would be ideal for consumers who’d want an even more compact Ultrabook than the U41.
At the time of writing, there is no word from Lenovo Malaysia yet on the retail price and availability of the Lenovo U31. Chances are, it would be available on store shelves silently, as it was the case with the U41.
