The Asus ZenFone 2 Laser has appeared on SIRIM. Seeing how the device was introduced alongside the ZenFone 2 Deluxe and ZenFone Max just a couple of weeks ago, this is quite a surprise. Does this mean the other two smartphones will be arriving in Malaysia shortly as well?
While a device appearing on SIRIM is hardly a confirmation of its availability in Malaysia, it’s a sign of things to come. After all, a consumer launch event will be held by Asus Malaysia next week for the ZenPad 7.0. The ZenFone 2 Laser’s appearance in SIRIM out of the blue couldn’t have been a mere coincidence.
In any case, the ZenFone 2 Laser is a mid-range offering with a few neat hardware. Just as its name suggests, its 13MP rear camera has a laser autofocus system. The front-facing shooter, on the other hand, has a 5MP sensor. Other specifications of the ZenFone 2 laser include a 5-inch 720p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, LTE connectivity, and a 2,070mAh or 2,400mAh battery.
As mentioned previously, Asus Malaysia will be holding a consumer launch event on the 26th of August 2015 for the ZenPad 7.0. More likely than not, it won’t be the only device launched at the event. Whether or not the ZenFone 2 Laser (or the ZenFone Selfie and Go that have also appeared on SIRIM) will make an appearance remains to be seen.
