It was only a couple of weeks ago when Sony unveiled the Xperia M5 and C5 Ultra, but surprisingly enough, both devices will be available for pre-order in Malaysia from tomorrow onwards. Although these are mid-range devices, the M5 and C5 Ultra boast some pretty respectable hardware.
The pre-order of the Xperia M5 and C5 Ultra will take place on 11Street. It will be held from tomorrow onwards until the 31st of August 2015 for the C5 Ultra. As for the Xperia M5, the pre-order will go on until 4th September 2015; plenty of time to place your order. The devices will then be available for shipping seven days after the end of the pre-order session.
The first 200 customers will be able to choose either the Sony SmartBand SWR-10 (worth RM265) or the Sony Portable Wireless Speaker SRS-BTV5 (worth RM299) as a freebie. After the first 200 units have been selected, customers can still receive either one of these as a gift, but it will be based on stock availability. Other than that, 11Street will also be holding a contest from 19th to 31st August 2015 on Instagram. The grand prize winner will walk away with an Xperia C5 Ultra.
In terms of specification, the Xperia M5 is equipped with a 5-inch 1080p display, a MediaTek Helio X10 2.0GHz octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot that can accomodate cards up to 200GB, and a 2,600mAh battery (which Sony claims can provide up to two days of usage). Other than that, it also has a 21.5MP rear camera, a 13MP front-facing shooter, IP65/IP68 rating, dual-SIM support, and LTE connectivity.
While not as well-equipped as the Xperia M5, the C5 Ultra is still a very capable mid-range device. Unlike the former, it is a 6-inch phablet with a 1920 x 1080 resolution display (with a very thin bezel). Other specifications include a MediaTek MT6752 1.7GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot which supports cards up to 200GB, a 2,930mAh battery, dual-SIM support, and LTE. In the camera department, it has 13MP rear and front cameras.
Curiously, Sony Malaysia is only listing the Xperia M5 on its website. The C5 Ultra, on the other hand, is nowhere to be seen. However, seeing how both devices have appeared on SIRIM, the company could be in the middle of updating its website.
The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra and M5 will be available for pre-order on 11Street tomorrow. They will retail for RM1,399 and RM1,599 respectively.
