(UPDATE) It looks like Samsung’s new smartwatch was part of the props for a fashion shoot for the company. More below.
Samsung will announce its next-generation smartwatch, the Gear S2, at next month’s IFA. With many anticipating that Samsung were ready to release a smartwatch at today’s Unpacked event, it appears the Korean company will be holding a separate event for its latest smartwatch.
In fact, development for the new smartwatch has been actively going on for months, with Samsung roping in developers via its Tizen Developer Summit events held in several locations globally. Because of that, we already know that it will be a smartwatch with a circular display, with plenty of third-party app integration.
At the announcement of the Galaxy Note5 and S6 edge+ today, the company released a short teaser for its the Gear S2, before announcing that it will be launched at IFA 2015, more specifically on 3 September 2015.
That’s literally all the information Samsung announced, besides the pictures we took from the teaser video, which you can see on this post.
(UPDATE) It appears that the Gear S2 has appeared in a promotional product campaign for Samsung that was released after the launch event yesterday. We’re not quite sure why Samsung would be doing a “lookbook”, but in two of the images in the promotional material, Samsung’s latest smartwatch is clearly visible – circular display and all.
