Intel appears to be whole heartedly embracing the move to mobile computing with its next generation of Skylake processors. First, were the leaks of unlocked variants of Skylake for gaming notebooks; now, the company has revealed that it will also be bringing professional grade Intel Xeon processors to laptops as well.
The soon to be appearing Intel Xeon Processor E3-1500M v5 Product Family will bring the usual Xeon features of correcting errors on the fly to retain data integrity. It’s mainly a feature for professionals who would rather not risk corrupting their important work, but might also be nice for the average power user who just wants the extra processing capacity. Aside from this, the new E3 Xeons will also ship with the other Skylake features like 4K video output, as well as support for the new Thunderbolt 3 port that Intel has been working on.
However, Intel has not said much else about the Xeon Processor E3. The company hasn’t even revealed when to expect them; although it would be safe to assume that these Xeon processors will not be appearing for at least a couple of months after the first round of sixth generation Intel Core processors arrive in the market.
