We know that Xiaomi will be holding an event on the 13th of August 2015. While many believe that MIUI 7 will be unveiled on that day, a new rumour is also suggesting that the Redmi Note 2 will make an appearance there. That’s not all; the Redmi Note’s successor could be priced as low as 799 Chinese yuan (about RM505).
It’s worth noting that the 799 yuan price tag is for the 32GB model. Unless Xiaomi only plans to sell only one capacity of the Redmi Note 2, it’s very likely that the 16GB variant will be cheaper. Supposedly, the upcoming device will be available for purchase on the 16th of August 2015.
In terms of the Redmi Note 2’s specifications, nothing has been made official yet. Rumours, however, are suggesting that it will have a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution display, a MediaTek MT6795 2GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM, a 3,020mAh battery, and MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Rounding out the hardware are a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing shooter, and possibly a microSD card slot as well. After all, the first Redmi Note has the feature.
However, as this is merely a rumour at this point in time, it’s best to take it in with a grain of salt. We’ll find out soon enough if the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will be unveiled on the 13th of August 2015.
