A new device from Huawei called the ATH-AL00 recently passed TENAA certification. It looks like your typical smartphone however, there is one feature that makes it stand out from the crowd – a pop-up front-facing camera.
According to the pictures posted on TENAA, the device does not have a camera at the front. In order to take a selfie, you will need to press a button located on the side of the phone, which will pop a camera up. Like most selfies-centric smartphone, the front-facing camera is accompanied with a dual LED flash.
So what benefits does a pop-up camera bring to the phone? As seen in the pictures, this will allow Huawei to design a slimmer bezel at the top. There’s already little to no bezel on either side of the phone, so a slimmer bezel on the top will definitely make the phone look better as a whole.
Sadly, TENAA did not reveal the specifications on the device. From the pictures though, we can see that it has two slots at the side hinting at dual-SIM support, and it does not have any physical home button at the front.
According to rumours, the device is said to have a fingerprint scanner located on the camera eject button, and it is likely to be powered by the company’s very own Kirin processor with up to 4GB of RAM.
