It has been known for quite some time now that OnePlus will be unveiling two smartphones for 2015. Now that the OnePlus 2 has been launched, it’s only a matter of time before the company’s second device is unveiled. According to OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, it could be launched before the end of the year. “Hopefully for Christmas,” he said.
While it would’ve been nice to get some details on the specifications of this mysterious device, Pei did not reveal a single thing about it. He did, however, mention that he was very impressed with the prototype of the upcoming device:
It may or may not be (higher spec’d than the OnePlus 2). When I saw the prototype for that phone I was like ‘holy s— that’s going to be my daily driver’ but then when the OnePlus 2 production version came out it’s also super nice, so its really hard to decide now what to use.
It’s going to be amazing, but today I’m not going to talk about it.
The prospect of a higher-end offering than the OnePlus 2 from the company is surely exciting, but according to a previous interview, it was mentioned that the second device will be “a cheaper model”. More likely than not, this would mean the upcoming phone will be a lower-end device.
Perhaps it would be the OnePlus One (Plus?). In any case, we’ll just have to wait for more details from the company. After all, the OnePlus 2 hasn’t even been launched in Malaysia yet, although it has appeared in SIRIM’s database.
