Update: Pictures of physical invites to the event.
It’s been almost a year since Xiaomi introduced MIUI 6, so what’s next? MIUI 7 of course. The Chinese company recently teased MIUI 7, which will be unveiled on 13 August 2015.
Yesterday, the MIUI Weibo page posted out a teaser of a calendar app with today’s date (4 August 2015) for 10:00am. The teaser hinted at the number “7”, and true enough, at 10am, MIUI’s Weibo page posted out yet another teaser, this time with a launch date.
The teaser does not say MIUI 7 of course, but with a big “7” on the image, and the fact that it’s a year since MIUI 6 has been announced, this should be for the unveiling for the latest mobile operating system from Xiaomi. August is also the anniversary month for MIUI, which started all the way back in 16 August 2010.
Sadly though, that’s all the official information there is right now. Let’s hope that MIUI 7 will be based on Android M, which will be released in Q3 this year (most likely September). MIUI 6 was introduced on 16 August 2014, and was officially rolled out to the public in October.
