Other than unveiling the Sony Xperia M5, the Japanese company has also announced a new upper mid-range smartphone: the Xperia C5 Ultra. Just like the Sony Xperia C4 Dual, the C5 Ultra is a selfie-centric device with 13MP rear and front cameras. Just because it’s a device aimed at selfie lovers, however, doesn’t mean it has subpar hardware.
The aluminium frame with rounded edges and a slightly curved back of the Xperia C5 Ultra indicate that this is quite a premium smartphone (not to mention the thin bezel). Powering the device is a MediaTek MT6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz along with 2GB of RAM. It also has a large 6-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution IPS display, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 200GB, and a 2,930mAh battery. (Although the battery capacity isn’t that big for a 6-inch device, Sony claims that the C5 Ultra can provide up to 2 days of battery life.)
In the camera department, the C5 Ultra has 13MP rear and front cameras, which is the very reason why it is touted as a smartphone for selfie lovers. Other specifications of the device include LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC support, and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
At the time of writing, the retail price and availability of the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra have not been announced yet.
