Samsung’s latest addition of its Galaxy A series, the Galaxy A8, is now officially in Malaysia. Sporting a large 5.7-inch Full HD display, the Galaxy A8 is the Samsung’s slimmest ever smartphone.
The new mid-range device is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 5430 octa-core chipset, featuring four 1.8GHz cores and four 1.3GHz cores, the A8 in Malaysia packs the same chip as the Galaxy Alpha – unlike the Snapdragon 615 chip used for the China market.
Other notable hardware specs include 2GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable memory, a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, LTE Cat 6, NFC, a 3,050mAh battery and 32GB of internal storage. For imaging, both the rear and front cameras feature f/1.9 apertures for better low light performance. The 16MP rear camera has almost the same amount of features found on the Galaxy S6, including Pro Mode and even the Quick Launch mode, but without HDR Auto. The front sensor is a 5MP shooter.
On top of that, the Galaxy A8 also features a fingerprint sensor, which is embedded on the Home button. The 5.9mm thin A8, which runs on Android 5.1.1, also sports a full metal frame that’s complemented by a grippy plastic back cover. Finally, the Galaxy A8 is available in Gold, White and Black.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 is now available immediately for RM1,888 inclusive of GST.
