Even though plenty of users will be upgrading to Windows 10 for free from their Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 devices, there are still users out there who need to purchase the new operating system separately. Unfortunately, the official Malaysian pricing for the new operating system is still not yet available even on the official online store for Microsoft Malaysia. That being said though, we manage to track down some useful information from our industry insiders regarding the pricing of Windows 10 in our market.
According to our sources, the Windows 10 Home will costs RM 519.90 not inclusive of GST and applies for both online as well as boxed releases. With GST, the price tag should be around RM 551.10 which is not much different as compared to the current price of Windows 8.1 on the official online store for Microsoft Malaysia but still significantly higher than the pricing in United States of USD 119.99 (RM 456.59).
However, our sources were not able to provide the pricing for Windows 10 Pro at the time being. Given from what we’ve seen with Windows 10 Home, we will not be surprised if the price is identical to Windows 8.1 which is currently listed at Microsoft Malaysia’s online store for RM 880. In United States, the price for Windows 10 Home is USD 199.99 (RM 761.00).
For now, there is nothing much we could do until the prices are officially announced by Microsoft Malaysia itself. The wait shouldn’t be long though since the boxed version of Windows 10 will arrive at retail stores in Malaysia on 10 August.
