On top of introducing two brand new Motorola Moto X devices (Moto X Play and Moto X Style), Motorola also took the curtains off its third-generation budget smartphone – the Moto G, featuring upgraded processor, RAM, and a new water resistance design.
First up, the 2015 Motorola Moto G features the same 5” 720p display and is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. There are two different variants to pick from – 1GB RAM paired with 8GB of storage, or 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. Both are expandable up to 32GB via microSD slot.

The camera has also been upgraded to a 13MP f/2.0 shooter at the back, with a “color-balancing” dual LED flash. The front on the other hand has a 5MP f/2.2 camera with a 72-degree field of view. Unlike the two new Moto X devices that are only water repellent, the Moto G is IPX7-rated, allowing you to submerge it in up to almost 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
Other specs include 2,470mAh battery that “lasts all day”, LTE connectivity, Gorilla Glass 3 display, and runs on Android 5.1.1 out of the box. There is also Moto Maker for the Moto G, allowing users to customise their device. Motorola is also expanding its Moto Maker into Brazil, where the Moto G was the best-selling device for a year.
The Motorola Moto G (2015) is available immediately in 60 countries throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific for a retail price starting from US$179.99 (about RM686).
