Xiaomi’s new Mi Note will be available through a special flash sale deal with Uber KL. Interested consumers will be able to buy the 5.7-inch phablet a full day ahead of the official retail availability, and then have it immediately delivered to their homes simply by placing an order on their Uber app.
Customers will be able to purchase the Xiaomi Mi Note through the Uber app on 27 July; where an extra option titled “Xiaomi” will be added to the slider in the app. This will display the location of the specially equipped Xiaomi delivery drivers, who will drive over to the customer to drop off their new phone in a matter of minutes. Payment will be handled within the Uber app, which means that there will not be any cash transaction with the driver.
This promotion will only last for one day, after which potential customers will have to buy the Mi Note through the usual online channel on mi.com/my. There is no indication of how many cars will be deployed to deliver the Mi Note, or if Uber will be able to cope with the usual deluge of buyers whenever a Xiaomi flash sale occurs.
Still, this is a very interesting partnership between two of the fastest growing tech companies in the world. The on-demand Mi Note partnership is only available for customers in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and there does not appear to be any additional delivery charges for the phablet.
The Xiaomi Mi Note will be available on 28 July for RM1,549.
