Samsung has just announced its next generation Galaxy Tab S – Galaxy Tab S2, “the most immersive Samsung tablet to-date”. The new tablet features a premium metal build, and has the thinnest and lightest metal frame of its size on the market.
Available in two sizes – 8” and 9.7”, the Galaxy Tab S2 measures at only 5.6mm thin, and features a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. It may not have the highest pixels per inch, but Samsung says that it wants to recreate the same viewing experience of browsing through traditional print media, making it comfortable to read digital content. With a “reading-optimised ratio”, it also allows users to enjoy a seamless reading experience with minimal scrolling.
On the inside, the new Tab S2 is powered by an octa-core processor (quad 1.9GHz + quad 1.3GHz), paired with 3GB of RAM with up to 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD. Both variants of the Tab S2 comes with an 8MP rear camera coupled with a 2.1MP front camera, and have a touch-enabled Fingerprint Scanner for “hassle-free authentication”.
Other specs include LTE connectivity, 5870mAh battery (9.7”) or 4000mAh battery (8”), and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with the latest version of Samsung TouchWiz UI. Samsung will also ship the Galaxy Tab S2 with 100GB of OneDrive cloud storage free for the first two years.
