This is rather peculiar. OnePlus seems to have entrusted Marques Brownlee (also known as MKBHD) with a unit of the OnePlus 2 for an early spin. Although he was tight-lipped on the OnePlus 2 as a whole, he was more than happy to share his experience with the OnePlus 2’s camera.
In the video, several key specifications of the OnePlus 2’s camera was revealed. We now know its rear camera will be a 13MP shooter with an aperture of F2.0. Interestingly, it will also come with laser autofocus, which should improve the camera’s focus time.
MKBHD also did a few comparisons with images taken from other smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, iPhone 6 Plus, and even the OnePlus One. Based on his sample images, the OnePlus 2’s camera is vastly improved compared to its predecessor, although it’s not necessarily as good as the Galaxy S6.
While these images show us what the OnePlus 2’s camera is capable of, MKBHD mentioned that the camera isn’t running on finalised software. There’s a chance OnePlus will do a few tweaks to the software before launching the device. We can only hope it will further improve the camera’s performance.
