ZTE has just launched a new high-end Android smartphone for the U.S. market called the ZTE Axon. The device features a 5.5” 2K display, and packs the latest and greatest hardware available in the market right now, and is available for only US$450 – that’s about RM1,711.
While most Chinese smartphone manufacturers are focused on the Asian region, ZTE has gone straight to the U.S. with the Axon. The device, like most flagship smartphones in the market, features a metal design. On the inside, it is powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage (non-expandable).
The LTE device from ZTE has a modest 13MP + 2MP Dual-Camera lens with BSI CMOS sensor and Dual LED flash, accompanied with an 8MP front-facing camera. ZTE did not mention whether the second camera at the back is similar to what HTC has that captures depth, the Chinese company only mentioned that it can “take high-quality photos with its dual-lens camera, which gives you quick auto focus to capture the action as it happens”. Other specs include 3000mAh non-removable battery, Hi-Fi recording and audio playback, and runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.
Available in Phthalo Blue, Chromium and Ion Gold, the device is available for pre-order in the U.S. right now for a decent retail price of US$449.98.
