After the official invitation made its way to members of media last month, the day has come for OPPO to officially launch its new R7 series of smartphones here in Malaysia. We already know that the company is indeed launching the R7 Plus in our market but today, we finally have the confirmation that R7 Lite will be officially released into Malaysia as well.
Design-wise, both R7 Plus and R7 Lite share similar design language, complete with full metal unibody chassis, and 2.5D curved screen. This also applies to their components as both R7 Plus and R7 Lite are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 13-megapixels PDAF rear camera, and 8-megapixels front camera. They also comes pre-installed with ColorOS 2.1 on top of their Android 5.1 operating system.
In terms of differences, the R7 Plus is equipped with 6-inch full HD AMOLED display while the R7 Lite has a smaller 5-inch HD AMOLED display. The Plus version also features 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which are twice the size that are available on R7 Lite. Additionally, the R7 Plus also features a fingerprint sensor which is not available on R7 Lite.
The R7 Plus also features a larger 4,100 mAh battery than the R7 Lite which is equipped with 2,320 mAh. Interestingly though, only R7 Plus comes with OPPO’s own in-house VOOC Flash Charge while the R7 Lite does not equipped with that feature and is replaced with a generic fast charging system.
Even though both R7 Plus and R7 Lite are dual-SIM smartphones, the R7 Plus SIM card slots only support nano-SIM as opposed to R7 Lite which supports a combination of micro-SIM and nano-SIM. However, the second SIM slot on both devices doubles as microSD slot which means users will not be able to use their second SIM card shall they choose to utilize microSD card in R7 Plus or R7 Lite.
Available for pre-order at 60 Oppo Concept Stores and 100 selected dealers throughout the country starting from this Sunday, the OPPO R7 Plus is priced at RM 1,998 while the R7 Lite goes for much lesser at RM 1,298. The exact on-ground availability is expected to take place sometime around August.
Stay tuned for our hands on experience with these new smartphones from OPPO coming your way very soon.
