Samsung has just released its Q2 2015 earnings guidance and things do not look good. Despite launching the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, the numbers are still going down – Samsung predicts that its operating profit for the second quarter of this year will drop 4% compared to the same quarter last year.
If the numbers are correct, it will be the Korean company’s drop in profit for the seventh consecutive reports. This is definitely a very worrying time for Samsung. In previous reports, we could blame the poor-performing Samsung Galaxy S5 for the decline in profits, however, the Q2 2015 puts the latest Galaxy S6 and S6 edge into consideration but the numbers are still continuing to drop.
However, while the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge may not be doing as well as the company might’ve hoped, it probably still helped to bolster the company’s fall – in Q1 2015, Samsung saw a 30% drop in profit compared to the same quarter last year.
In Q2 of 2014, the Sales and Operating profits were 52.5 trillion won and 7.2 trillion won respectively, while the numbers for Q2 2015 are 47.1 trillion won and 6 trillion won respectively.
The smartphone market right now is definitely very competitive, so let’s hope Samsung has a solution to help them pick things up again.
