LG has just launched a new smartphone in its home country: the uniquely named Band Play. Priced at 394,800 South Korean won (about RM1,335), the Band Play is priced considerably high for a lower mid-range smartphone. That being said, it does come with a set of 1W speakers that LG claims will deliver a premium audio quality.
Other than a set of 1W speakers, the Band Play has the typical hardware of a lower mid-range device. These include a 5-inch 1280 x 720 resolution display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a removable 2,300mAh battery.
In the camera department, the Band Play is fitted with a 13MP rear camera with laser auto focus. The front-facing shooter, on the other hand, is a regular ol’ 5MP camera. Other specifications of the Band Play are LTE connectivity and Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. The smartphone also comes with a pair of “premium” earphones; further emphasing the audio aspect of the device.
The LG Band Play will go on sale this Thursday in South Korea for 394,800 South Korean won, which comes up to about RM1,335. No word yet on the local availability of this audio-centric smartphone from LG.
