As per its announcement at E3 2015, AMD has decided to unleash its new flagship-class Radeon R9 Fury graphics cards separately than the Radeon R9 and R7 300 Series models. The first of them will be the R9 Fury X which is expected to be available in Malaysia within the next two weeks.
If you are planning to get your hands on one though, get ready to splash some serious cash because it seems that the price for the card in Malaysia might reach really close to the RM 3,000 mark or it could be even more.
At least, that is according to our recent observations. The story goes that even though R9 Fury X will only be available later this month, DotaTech IT Enterprise – which has been selling PC hardware at Lowyat.NET Forums for quite some time – is now taking pre-order for the Sapphire R9 Fury X.
The shop quoted RM 2,829 as the price of the card, not inclusive of GST. That means the card will cost around RM 2,999 once GST is included into the calculation. As a comparison, AMD’s base price for R9 Fury X is USD 649 (RM 2,431) while in Singapore, Sapphire R9 Fury X apparently already available there today for SGD 999 (RM 2,789). Despite that, its first batch of Sapphire R9 Fury X shipment is now fully booked according to DotaTech IT Enterprise.
Given how each brands and retailers price their products differently, we believe that some Fury X cards might cost more than RM 3,000 while others could be priced at less than RM 2,900. In terms of price point, this pretty much put the R9 Fury X within NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti’s alley.
It is unknown at the moment though how the new Radeon flagship card performs against the equally new GTX 980 Ti though since the usual established hardware-oriented media have yet to publish their take on the new card. Given that the general availability date for Fury X is tomorrow (not in Malaysia though, from what we know so far), guess we shall know soon enough then.
