Razer’s march towards installing its colour changing Chroma technology onto all its peripherals continues with the Razer Tartarus Chroma. The gaming keypad is essentially the same as the non-colour changing version of the peripheral, except it now it gains the ability to switch between 16 million different colours.
The Razer Tartarus is a partial keyboard dedicated solely to gaming. It mounts 25 fully programmable buttons and an eight way thumb pad. Unlike the mechanical switches on the Razer Orbweaver, the Tartarus uses membrane keys. Curiously, the Chroma version of the Orbweaver has not been announced; and it would have made sense to release both Chroma versions of the Tartarus and Orbweaver at the same time.
This is the only the latest in the line of Razer’s Chroma peripherals, and it is only a matter of time before the company decides to make a Chroma version of just about everything it does. The Razer Tartarus will first appear in the US BestBuy store and slowly make its way to the rest of the world. How long that will take is unknown.
