Acer turned up in the middle of Intel’s keynote at Computex 2015 to show off it’s range of Intel powered gaming machines. That happens to include the Acer Predator 8, an 8-inch gaming tablet that runs on Intel’s new Atom x7 processor.
Details are light on what the Acer Predator 8 runs, but it looks like a sexy beast of a tablet. The extra design accents might make it look a little bigger than other 8-inch tablets, but that doesn’t seem to worry Acer. It looked to be running some sort of racing game demo extremely smoothly. That being said, it would be very difficult to judge the performance of the Predator 8 from that short tease.
As a tablet to running the Intel Atom x7, the Predator 8 possible sets the standard for what consumers can expect from other manufacturers building on the premium grade mobile processor. It may even convince more manufacturers to get on board with the whole Intel powered smartphone/tablet deal; or not, considering that the Microsoft Surface 3 also runs on the same processor and didn’t do too well for Windows gaming.
There is no other information about the Acer Predator 8, but there is sure to be more information appearing soon.
