Good news for fans of Google Maps, Google announced at its I/O 2015 that its Maps app would soon be able to support search and turn-by-turn navigation while in offline mode.
Google Maps offline has ben around for a while now however, it only allows users to save certain sections of the maps to their phone so they can access it without going online. With the announcement, it means that users will be able to search and navigate using the offline Maps.
This is in-line with Google’s aim to bring its services to all like YouTube Offline that is available in a handful of countries. It will allow users in developing countries to use its turn-by-turn navigation service even if they have limited or no internet access. Sadly though, Google did not mention the availability of this service, they only said that it will be coming later this year so if you’re going to travel later in the year, this tool will definitely come in handy.
