Trading in your old phone to buy a new one from our local telco is definitely becoming a thing. U Mobile now has a trade in program that gives you rebate for your old phone to buy any devices it offers, or if you wish to get an iPhone, you can get an even better value. What makes this trade up program even more attractive is that U Mobile is also offering this to Prepaid iPlan subscribers.
U Mobile’s trade in program accepts any working phone if you trade it in to buy an iPhone. The minimum value for any working phone is RM200 if you wish to buy a 16GB or 64GB iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus, and up to RM350 for 128GB iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. Do note that the promotion period is only valid till 30 June 2015.
Like other offers we’ve seen before, if you have other phones listed, U Mobile will offer even more value. Get up to RM1,060 for an iPhone 5s, up to RM1,000 for a Samsung Galaxy S5, up to RM850 for a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and more. The value of the old phone depends on whether you would like to get an iPhone or any other devices from U Mobile.
So, how is U Mobile’s trade in program compared to others? Here’s a sample comparison given by the telco.
As usual, there are certain requirements to fulfil for your old devices. It must be able to be powered on and off, it must be able to charge with a compatible charger, the screen must be functioning without cracks on screen or casing, there’s no activation or screen lock, IMEI number must be accessible, and there’s no water damage.
If your phone does not fulfil the requirements above, as long as it is able to power on, U Mobile will still accept it under the “Any working phone” category.
Some notable terms and conditions is that only one phone per transaction is allowed, the trade in does not offer any cash so in the event that the trade in value is more than your phone purchase, you can get the phone for free but any value after that will be forfeited, and you must sign up for a postpaid plan or prepaid plan on your new device purchase.
