Today, U Mobile and Telekom Malaysia signed a collaborative deal for U Mobile to use TM’s Next-Gen Backhaul (NGBH) services. With this deal, U Mobile hopes to strengthen its network, and deliver a better experience to its subscribers.
With this collaboration, it means that instead of building unnecessary duplication of network infrastructure, U Mobile can utilise what is readily available from Telekom Malaysia, allowing it to be more efficient.
“As a data centric telco, we have introduced many market defining products that are alighed with the mobile Internet trends to our consumers in the past few years. We hold customer’s satisfaction close to our heart, and that needs to be supported by a robust network infrastructure. We will continue to invest in our network to ensure our customers enjoy the best user experience in the market. We are glad to partner with TM as their technologies are able to support our network capacity demand.” – Too Tian Jen, Chief Technology Officer at U Mobile.
The deal signed today is effective for nine years. Under the deal, TM will be providing fibre mobile backhaul connectivity via its TM NGBH up to 1Gbps per site that covers Central, Southern, Eastern and Northern regions in Malaysia. TM NGBH is a network that is catered to support 4G LTE in providing high speed internet, as well as excellent voice and video quality. With this collaboration, it means that U Mobile can roll out its 4G LTE to more cities around the country at a faster rate.
What does this mean to consumers? For U Mobile subscribers, it means that the telco can have more resources and focus on other areas of the business, while it leverage on TM NGBH service. This will, hopefully, give U Mobile subscribers a better overall service. U Mobile emphasises on network reliability, quality and performance, so let’s hope they fulfil their promise of a “faster access to rich multimedia experience anywhere, any time through their mobile devices”.
