For those of you who felt the pinch when Uber Malaysia increased the fare of its uberX rides in the country, here’s a piece of good news. Uber has just announced that they have removed the minimum fare from their charges.
Previously, the minimum fare for a ride was RM3.50. That’s not a lot, considering the base fare is RM2, but for those who would like to take a short trip to the LRT station or to a store nearby, you don’t have to pay more than necessary. The rest of the charges remain the same – base fare at RM2, RM0.35 per minute and RM0.70 per kilometre, and cancellation fee is RM5.
Earlier this month, Uber increased the price of its uberX rides by RM0.50 for base fare, and up RM0.15 for charges per minute and per kilometre. Still, despite the changes, Uber still boasts that it is cheaper than regular taxi rides by up to 20%.
