I’m sure Adblock Plus needs no introduction to, it is one of the most popular desktop browser extensions out there, and if you’ve been hoping to get something similar for your mobile, you may download Adblock Browser (beta) on your Android device.
Like its browser extension, Adblock Browser will remove advertisements on the web pages you browse. It runs on a version of Mozilla’s open-source Firefox browser for Android devices but is equipped with Adblock’s ad-blocking capability so webpages can load faster. Sadly though, Adblock has removed support for third-party extensions and Firefox’s synchronisation features.
This isn’t the company’s first mobile app, a few years ago, Adblock Plus actually launched an Adblock Plus for Android app however, due to its “interference with another service or product”, it was kicked out of the Play Store by Google.
Do note though that Adblock Browser is still in beta mode, so it’s not officially available on the Play Store. Instead, you’ll need to subscribe to the Adblock Browser community on Google+ to download the app. It’s still version 1.0, so you’re bound to run into errors here and there.
Check out Adblock Browser’s Google+ community page for more information and links to download the app directly to your Android Device.
