After months of waiting, Apple has finally introduced a new 15” MacBook Pro with Retina Display that is equipped with the company’s latest Force Touch trackpad. That’s not all, the Cupertino company also introduced a new and more affordable configuration to its 27” iMac with Retina 5K display. Both devices are available on Apple Malaysia’s online store.
On top of getting a new pressure-sensitive trackpad, the new 15” MacBook Pro with Retina Display has also been updated with better hardware under its hood – faster flash storage, longer battery life, and faster discrete graphic.
According to Apple, the flash storage is now up to 2.5 times faster than the previous generation, with throughput up to 2Gbps, and offers up to 9 hours of iTunes movie playback. Other updates include a new discrete graphics that delivers up to 80% faster performance using new AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics. It is available to ship to Malaysia starting late June, with a retail price starting from RM7,399.
As for the 5K iMacs, Apple has made it slightly more affordable than before with a new cheaper configuration starting from RM7,499. It features the same 27” Retina 5K display that offers 67% more pixels than a 4K display, and is powered by a 3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz, with AMD Radeon R9 M290 Graphics.
The new iMac also comes with 8GB of memory, 1TB of storage, 4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 Thunderbolt 2 ports that delivers up to 20Gbps each – that’s twice the bandwidth of previous generation. Sadly though, while the top-of-the-line 5K iMac gets a price cut in the U.S., the existing iMac with Retina 5K display still starts from RM8,479.
