Waiting for the next iPhone to be announced? According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst who has access to upcoming devices from Apple, the next generation iPhones will pack some pretty interesting things such as a new rose gold colour, 2GB of RAM, 12MP rear camera and more.
According to the analyst from KGI, Apple will not introduce a new smaller iPhone. Despite many rumours saying that the Cupertino company will reintroduce a 4” iPhone, Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple will stick to the 4.7” and 5.5” choices. Apple will however, introduce a new rose gold colour option, on top of the existing space grey, silver, and champagne gold iPhones.
While the whole iPhone 6 Plus “bendgate” issue seems to have died down, Apple will still improve the overall design of the device by using different casing materials and internal mechanical design changes. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that people will finally stop showing bend tests – it really breaks our heart to see devices shattered on purpose.
The changes I’m personally looking forward to the most is a 12MP rear camera. While iPhones has always had one of the best smartphone cameras, its low resolution doesn’t seem to do it any justice, especially when compared with the 13MP, 16MP and 20MP smartphone cameras in the market. Apple has stuck with 8MP camera since the iPhone 4s, so it’s about time they caught up with the rest.
Other rumours mentioned by Ming-Chi Kuo includes a new microphone near the speaker for enhanced voice quality, A9 Processor with 2GB LPDDR4 RAM, improved Touch ID, Force Touch display, and gesture control support.
The next generation iPhones are expected to be announced later this year, mass production will start in mid-to-late August. Total shipments will be 80-90mn in 2015, with a ratio of 2:1 for 4.7” and 5.5” models.
