The internet of things is a big deal for the technology industry, but it looks like mattress maker Dunlopillo is also getting in on the act. The company has released the Respark, a mattress equipped with sensors and an algorithm for measuring the health of a couple’s relationship. It is also capable of suggesting ways of rekindling romance in case it decides that the two people aren’t doing enough in bed.
Basically, the mattress is equipped with a number of sensors that track activity in the bed. What these sensors are is not explained, but they appear to be pressure sensors that measure body movement. This information is then fed to a computer that calculates whether a couple is getting intimate, or just going to bed after a long day at work like normal adults. If it decides that the husband and wife are not doing enough in bed, it will take action through an app installed in its owners smartphones. According to the promotional video, the app will send suggestions like romantic dinners in order to reignite the romance in a couple. There is no explanation if the mattress will provide other suggestions as well.
The Respark mattress is not yet on sale to the general public. Instead, it is currently part of a promotion that will give three lucky couples the opportunity to experience the joy of listening to their bed. If you and your spouse are interested in joining the promotion, head over to the website to sign up.
