With almost everything increasing in price in Malaysia, Uber just announced an inevitable move – a price increase for its uberX service in the country. Effective from midnight, 6 May 2015, uberX will start from RM2 base far, with incremental charges of 35sen per minute or 70sen per kilometre.
The price increase is to ensure that the company’s Partner Drivers are “compensated fairly and equitably for their hard work”, and of course, to cope with the ever increasing cost of living in Kuala Lumpur. The new prices sees an increase of RM0.50 in base fare, RM0.15 increase for charges per minute and per kilometre. The minimum fare is now RM3.50, up from RM2.50, while the cancellation fee remains at RM5.
