An image of LG’s new Windows Phone has appeared on the internet, although nothing much is known about the device. Unfortunately for everyone, it will be a Verizon exclusive phone; which means that it will pretty much be limited to the United States of America.
It has been known that Microsoft has been working hard to get more manufacturers on board for the upcoming Windows 10 for Smartphones. So far, Xiaomi has already announced that it is testing the mobile OS on its phones, and is every trying out an alternative OS installation for existing devices. LG has also been on the list of companies that have been in talks with Redmond about building new Windows phones.
However, that is pretty much all that is known about this currently mysterious device. It has no name, no release date, and no specifications. We are not even sure which version of Windows it will be launched with. Speculation has it that it will ship with Windows 10, which would indicate that it won’t be available until the summer launch of the operating system.
On the other hand, Microsoft has not been shy about releasing new devices running on the current generation of Windows Phone 8.1; and promising to upgrade the machines to the new OS when it is available.
This could also be a test device to see how the market responds to a non-Lumia Windows Phone, which would make sense considering how limited the release looks to be. All this means is that we ask Americans to flock to stores to buy this phone when it becomes available, if only so LG has the confidence to make them for the rest of the world.
