Maxis has introduced a new way for gamers to buy online game credits in the form of Hotlink Game Credits. This essentially allows the reload codes from Hotlink to not only serve as credit for phone calls, but to also become in-game cash.
The way it works is relatively simple. Customers who buy Hotlink top up codes can input those codes into their Asiasoft, CIB, Garena, IAHGames, or Cubinet account instead. This will convert the monetary value of the reload into in-game cash for those games. In addition to this, there will be extra bonuses for users who buy in-game cash through Hotlink Game Credits with a value of at least RM10. These include:
- 3 days IP + 3 days XP Boost on League of Legends online game worth RM19.95. Applicable for RM10 & above top-up tickets.
- Room Name Color Changer on Blackshot online game worth RM4.00.
- 06 Golden Key on EA FIFA Online 3 game worth RM3.50.
- Any game from IAH Games will come with additional 10% iCash (IAH Games currency) based on the equivalent top-up game point value.
Hotlink says that it is committed to supporting eSports in the country, and is using its massive distribution network to provide additional access to more games. Admittedly, this would be a massive boon for online gamers who do not have a credit or debit card.
While most of the games involved are currently quite limited, the inclusion of League of Legends and Garena is possibly the main reason that make these Hotlink Game Credits an interesting prospect. With any luck, there will be more games added to the list; although it would be fantastic if Hotlink Game Credits could be used to top up Steam Wallets.
