If you’ve been waiting to get your HTC Desire EYE, One E8 or even the relatively old Butterfly S updated, the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update is now available for these smartphones. Strangely enough, it is coming in from various countries, so it might take some time before Malaysian units get the update.
For now, the HTC Desire EYE and Butterfly S are getting updated to Lollipop in their home country, Taiwan. The One E8, on the other hand, is getting the update in Hong Kong. It’s a little odd as to why the updates are being rolled out in such a fashion, but it is nice to see that the Butterfly S – which was released two years ago – is also getting a taste of Android Lollipop.
Just like the Android Lollipop update for the HTC One M8 and One M7, this update is still using the company’s Sense 6.0 Android skin. It seems like only the HTC One M9, M9+ and E9+ will have Sense 7.0 on-board, at least, for now. We might see Sense 7.0 on HTC’s Android 5.1 Lollipop update, but it’s merely a speculation at this point in time.
If you own the HTC Desire EYE, One E8 or Butterfly S, it’s likely that the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update will make it to your smartphone sooner or later. Depending on which device, the download size of the update ranges from 700MB to 1GB.
