You might have heard that Microsoft has planned to release a smaller and more affordable version of its Surface Pro 3 tablet – called Surface 3 – next month in several markets throughout the world including Malaysia. What you might have missed though that the company is also planning to come out with an LTE version of the tablet.
While the availability of such variant in Malaysia is not yet known at the moment, the Surface team has confirmed through its recent Reddit AMA session that the team is working to deliver a Surface 3 variant with unlocked LTE connectivity. By having unlocked LTE connectivity, this particular variant will not be bound to telco contracts and chances are that it also able to support numerous LTE networks throughout which would made the Surface 3 highly mobile.
In case you somehow missed the news, the new Microsoft Surface 3 is scheduled for release in Malaysia this coming May with pre-order is scheduled to be opened on 13 April. Powered by the newly announced Intel Atom x7 processor, there are two confirmed variants for Malaysian market so far: 64GB model with 2GB of RAM, and 128GB model with 4GB of RAM.
