Twitter has officially launched its latest feature called “Retweet With Comment”, a feature that basically allows users to retweet a tweet and provide a little commentary of their own.
The company began testing the feature back in June 2014, and it seems Twitter’s latest mini-feature is now ready for prime time. In a way, it is sort of a workaround to Twitter’s 140-character limit as it allows users to share tweets and give their own 140-character limit comment without shortening the original tweet. Hence, retaining the tweet’s original meaning and its intended context.

Previously, users had to copy the permalink, paste it into a new tweet, then add their comment. Another way to do it is to copy paste the entire tweet and squeeze their comments into whatever character is left in the tweet. This is also how products like Twitlonger and JumboTweet came to life, to let users say more than just 140-characters.
In terms of availability, the feature is now available on the Twitter website as well as the iOS app. Twitter for Android users will need to wait a little while longer to get the feature.
